Missouri Gas Energy Better Heating Now - Home
I REPLACED MY OLD TANK WITH A TANKLESS WATER HEATER TO SAVE ENERGY AND SPACE

Although the Energy Factor (EF) varies on water heaters, it costs more to keep a tank of water heated 24 hours a day than it does a tankless system that heats water on demand. That’s why Missouri Gas Energy offers a $200 rebate for natural gas tankless systems that meet the government’s Energy Star criteria.

Natural gas tankless systems offer a variety of benefits over a traditional storage tank. Here are just some of the advantages:

  • Always hot—tankless, on-demand systems ensure you never run out of hot water.
  • Saves energy and operating costs—the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy reported a 50% savings off a standard electric tank.
  • Environmentally-friendly—by using natural gas to heat your water, you significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere while saving money. Tankless systems also last longer (on average 20 years) and some even have recyclable and replaceable parts.
  • Saves space—a compact wall mounted tankless unit saves about 12-16 square feet of space versus a 40-gallon tank that not only takes up floor space, but has the potential to flood the area if it ruptures.
  • More convenience and safety features—most tankless options offer remote temperature control that allows you to adjust the temperature instantly. This safety feature is helpful for families with small children or diabetics who cannot risk having extremely hot water.
  • Cleaner water—given on-demand tankless water heaters do not store water, there is less sediment build-up and rust, which is common in storage tanks.
