Q: Do I have to use a Preferred Professional?

A: Furnace Program

  • If purchased prior to 12/31/2010 you may still apply for a bill credit.
  • If purchased after 1/01/2011 you are required to go through a Preferred Professional for instant rebate.

  • You may apply for a bill credit or use an MGE Preferred Professional until further notice

  • You are required to use an approved Auditor

Q: How long will Missouri Gas Energy rebates be available?

A: Currently there is no program end date.



Q: I just found out about the rebates, but installed my appliance sometime ago, do I still qualify?

A: You have one year to file for a bill credit from the time of purchase.



Q: What is considered a valid invoice to attach to my application?

A: A valid invoice would include purchased items with manufaturer model number, purchased cost, date of installation and the purchasee's name and address. Purchase Orders, Statement of Work, Bids etc… will not be considered valid documentation.



Q: What is a Preferred Professional, and why would I have to use one?

A: MGE Preferred Professionals have the following credentials:

  • Liability insurance coverage with a minimum of $1,000,000
  • Missouri heating and cooling business license and articles of incorporation
  • NATE certifications or a master mechanics license
  • 24 Hour service phone
  • Authorized to provide instant rebate

Q: How do I know if my appliance qualifies for the rebate?

A: Ask your Preferred Professional or make sure you select a product that follows the eligibility specifications below. Please note that the Federal Tax Credit qualification may differ.

The energy factor (EF) and the annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) are measures of an appliance’s energy efficiency. Those taking advantage of these rebates should ask their plumber or HVAC professional for this information when choosing their appliance. All qualifying units are ENERGY STAR® rated.

Q: How long before I will see a bill credit on my account?

A: Missouri Gas Energy is dedicated to turning these applications around in a timely fashion, however, we have asked to please allow 60 days for processing. It is possible you will see the credit on your bill prior to the 60 days requested.
